Transcontinental’s 2009 Composer of the Year is featured with several great pieces in this release. This particular English rendition of Psalm 150 (“Praise God In His Sanctuary”) was commissioned in honor of the 150th anniversary of New York City’s Temple Shaaray Tefila.
A new edition of this piece (formerly released under Transcontinental number 993228), created using additional text recently discovered by the arranger. The melody is a traditional Sephardi tune; the Hebrew text comes from Psalm 118; the French text is by the poet David Levi Alvares. In French and Hebrew.
For SATB with rehearsal keyboard
This driving, contemporary setting from Psalm 97 should prove to be popular with singers of all ages as well as audiences and congregations.
For SATB, solo, and keyboard
Conductors of many mixed choirs are already familiar with the very popular SATB version of this piece; composer Ryan Brechmacher now provides a version for treble choir. The sheer beauty of this absolutely gorgeous, uplifting piece alone makes it destined to take its place among, and forever alter, the canon of Chanukah songs – and beyond. Original English lyrics serve as bookends to the Ma’oz Tzur prayer and lend the piece to a universally applicable theme of hope, unity and freedom.
