The Complete Chanukah Songbook contains arrangements of more than 90 Chanukah tunes, including children's favorites, liturgical music and contemporary classics by today's best Jewish composers, including Dan Nichols, Jeff Klepper, and Michael Isaacson. In addition to dozens of songs in Hebrew, English, Yiddish, and Ladino, The Complete Chanukah Songbook contains a comprehensive pronunciation guide, as well as a retelling of the Chanukah story, a guide to Chanukah liturgy, and an explanation of the traditions of Chanukah - the menorah, the dreidl, and the food. "The Complete Chanukah Songbook will be an invaluable resource to musicians, clergy, teachers, and parents," said Joel Eglash, Managing Director of Transcontinental Music Publications. "From the pre-school piece Marching Maccabees to the poignant Menorah by Laura Berkson, there is music for every age group. As a musical resource, the songbook is unique, as a source of information about Chanukah and Judaism, it is excellent, and as a pedagogical tool, it is without peer." The songbook is suitable for use in a number of settings. School music teachers looking for good material for winter concerts will find a number of ideal selections; there are also rounds and part songs suitable for youth and adult choirs. Each song in The Complete Chanukah Songbook is printed with accompaniments for piano and chords for guitar. The difficulty level of the accompaniment ranging from simple to advanced, making the songbook a useful learning tool for beginning piano and guitar players. Composers whose works are featured in the songbook include Danny Maseng, Bonia Shur, Julie Silver, Peter Yarrow, Debbie Friedman, Marshall Portnoy, Craig Taubman, Laura Berkson and many, many others.
